About Andrew

Andrew Shen is a writer, producer, and marketer. Prior to the pandemic, he’d travel the world to tell stories about people and organizations doing meaningful work in innovative ways.

The short film Resettled tells the story of a refugee family fleeing Iraq, with the help of an incredible team. He partnered with The New York Times on a short documentary about the Tanzanian rural economy. And ten-degree Boston was the set for a profile on Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman—with a cutdown running the week of the big game.

Other work includes case studies with Expedia, Brandt Industrial, and a variety of small businesses. These stories set out to clearly demonstrate how technology can help transform industries old and new, and helped frame Dropbox as an indispensable, urgent need.

None of this work would be possible without some amazing production companies: Where The Buffalo Roam, Wild Pair Films, Allies & Co., Animal Studio, JZB Projects, 1stAveMachine, and Film Orange.

When not traveling for shoots, Andrew lives in San Francisco’s Sunset District with his wife, Jamie, and daughter, Lena. He rushed off to Tanzania a few days after their honeymoon to shoot the Simusolar customer video — which did not go over well at the time. But the photo up top brought a smile to her face.
